Welcome to our shuffling appaloosas page! We are excited to be expanding our program to include these amazing horses. Who doesn't love spots and smooth gaits?! Gaited bloodlines can be found in the original foundation bred Appaloosa horses. There are very few breeders still continuing these bloodlines and we are thrilled to be contributing to the continuation of full registered ApHC horses that can gait! Check out our stallion and mares below.
While we expand our program we will also doing WALKALOOSA crosses between our Appaloosas, Missouri Foxtrotters, and Tennessee Walkers. Check out the bottom of the page for upcoming Walkaloosa foals.

Interesting information about the Indian shufflers...
The Appaloosa breed is known for its smooth gait, or "Indian shuffle", which made them difficult for the U.S. Cavalry to beat in battles with Native American horsemen. The Nez Perce Tribe bred their Appaloosa horses to have this gait, which allowed them to evade the U.S. Cavalry for months during the Nez Perce War in the late 1800s.
The U.S. military tried to counter this advantage by killing off the gaited Appaloosa stallions and replacing them with heavy draft horses. The original Nez Perce Appaloosa breed nearly died out after the war, but a few survived and were revived in the 1930s. The Appaloosa Horse Club was formed in 1938 to serve as the breed registry.
